Veintiocho activistas de Greenpeace, un fotógrafo y un cámara independientes han sido encarcelados en Rusia por llevar a cabo un protesta pacífica en el Ártico. Rusia acusa a los 30 de Ártico de piratería y vandalismo, exponiendoles a una pena de 15 años de cárcel por piratería y 7 años por vandalismo.
Desde Democracia real YA! defendemos un modelo económico orientado a las personas y no a los mercados. Somos conscientes del agotamiento de los recursos naturales y de que el concepto capitalista de crecimiento perpetuo no solo es incorrecto desde punto de vista teórico, ya que vivimos en un planeta finito, sino que además es criminal para las generaciones presentes y futuras.
No se puede mantener el viejo y falso paradigma de que el enriquecimiento del 1% y de unas cuantas multinacionales que se benefician en algo que pertenece a la humanidad. Por ello, estamos convencidos de que aprovechar una situación provocada por la codicia como es el calentamiento global de la Tierra, para mantener prácticas egoístas esquilmando los recursos del Ártico por parte de petroleras avariciosas y gobiernos cómplices, no solo es éticamente reprochable, sino que esto causará un daño irreparable al planeta y a quienes lo habitamos ahora o lo habitarán en el futuro.
Desde el convencimiento de que vía la desobediencia civil no-violenta se puede reivindicar un futuro mejor para todas las personas del planeta, creemos que las acciones de visibilidad que promociona Greenpeace en defensa del Ártico no solo son éticas y adecuadas, sino que nos defienden de los ataques brutales de aquellos que solo piensan en su propio beneficio.
Por ello nosotras, la Plataforma Democracia real Ya! apoyamos, adherimos, compartimos tanto los objetivos como los métodos de Greenpeace y exigimos la liberación inmediata de todos los activistas y de la tripulación detenidos por el gobierno de Rusia. Así mismo, nos unimos formalmente al movimiento global para crear un santuario global en el Ártico y evitar las destructivas perforaciones petrolíferas.

28 Greenpeace activists, a freelance photographer and a videographer have been imprisoned in Russia for carrying out a peaceful protest in the Arctic. Russia accuses the Arctic 30 of piracy and hooliganism, which can lead to a sentence of up to 15 years for piracy and 7 years for hooliganism.
Democracia real YA! defends an economic model people-oriented, not market-oriented. We are aware of the depletion of the natural resources and that the capitalist concept of perpetual growth is not only incorrect from a theoretical point of view, given that we live in a finite planet, but it is alsocriminal for the present and future generations.
We cannot maintain the old and false paradigm of the enrichment of 1% and a few corporations who benefit from something that belongs to mankind. Therefore, we are convinced that taking advantage of a situation triggered by greed, as is climate change, to maintain selfish practices exhausting the Arctic’s resources carried out by avaricious oil companies and accomplice governments, is not only ethically reproachable but it will also cause an irreparable damage to the planet and to those who inhabit it now and in the future.
From the firm conviction that non-violent civil disobedience can be used to defend a better future for all the people in the planet, we believe that the actions of visibility that Greenpeace promotes in defense of the Arctic are not only ethical and appropriate, but also defend us from the brutal attacks of those who only think in their own benefit.
For all these reasons, Democracia real Ya! platform supports, endorses and shares Greenpeace’s methods and we demand the immediate freedom of all the activists and the crew detained by the Russian government. Furthermore, we formally adhere to the global movement to create a global sanctuary in the Arctic and prevent destructive oil drilling.
